Lufthansa to deploy new B747-8 on Hong Kong-Frankfurt route

Lufthansa will deploy its Boeing 747-8 aircraft – kitted out with the new business class product – on its once daily Hong Kong-Frankfurt service at the end of this month, replacing the B747-400 previously deployed on the route.

The first flight will leave Frankfurt on March 31 and fly back from Hong Kong on April 1. Flight LH796 departs Frankfurt at 2205 and arrives 1510 the next day, while the return leg LH797 takes off at 2320 and lands at 0530. 

 
The new B747-8 is equipped with 386 seats in a three-class configuration, with eight first, 80 business and 298 economy class seats. The business class seats are split, with 32 on the upper deck and the rest on the lower. These new seats were unveiled last year (see story here) and can be converted into a fully-flat bed measuring 1.98 metres in length. The “V” shaped business class seating arrangement gives passengers "greater privacy and more personal living space,” says Frank Püttmann, head of Lufthansa group communications. Currently, Lufthansa has five of the fourth-generation B747 aircraft in service, including the one to be used on the Hong Kong-Frankfurt route.

From the picture above the 2 seats seem to 'converge' at the feet, NOT private at all! How can your reviewer say that it gives 'greater privacy'??? Worse than BA's Business Class seats in the middle of the 2-4-2 configuration!

I think the comparison is with the previous LH business class.
LH has addressed some of the criticisms by changing the divider between the feet to give a greater "separation" though I've not seen an example of that, just heard it is happening.

seat almost facing each other... what a farce. terrible.
and Boeing willingly let Airbus take rule over the commercial world. They could have come out with this plane way before the A-380 Collusion, do you think????

"Greater privacy?" I dont think so!
WHY didnt Lufthansa opt for the 1-2-1 seating configuration which has now (almost) become de riguer for any "new" Business Class? Isnt it obvious that most Business Class passengers are, in fact, travelling solo for business and hence would welcome the actual privacy this affords?
I was so hoping to fly this product from Bombay (Mumbai) to Frankfurt but after reading this I have changed my mind.
