Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet has announced a significant expansion of its network with at least 20 new routes to be launched this summer, including nine to the U.S.

Minneapolis, Detroit, and Washington D.C. will all be served by WestJet for the first time this summer, while previous routes to cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Orlando will be restored.

Minneapolis and Detroit—two critical hubs for WestJet’s partner Delta Air Lines—will allow more opportunities for connections throughout the U.S. and beyond for the Canadian airline’s passengers. Likewise, Delta’s customers will also be able to use their SkyMiles on WestJet flights to Canada.

Most of WestJet’s new routes will connect Americans with the airline’s central hub of Calgary, along with Vancouver and Edmonton. Winnipeg will also get at least one new connection to the U.S., while an international service from Toronto to Bermuda will also be added.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our network and giving our guests substantial opportunity to explore the U.S., and Canada from coast-to-coast this summer,” said Alex von Hoensbroech, Chief Executive Officer of WestJet.

“From increased domestic options to expanded regional and transborder connectivity throughout Western Canada, our summer schedule demonstrates our unwavering commitment to fulfilling the diverse needs of Canadian travelers and ensuring we are the friendly, reliable and affordable airline they love.”

All the new routes are scheduled to start between April and June this year, and tickets can be bought now on WestJet’s website.
