Africa Flight Experience – Air Kenya Flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi

If you want to get back and forth between Nairobi and the Masai Mara of Kenya, you have two main domestic airline options: Safarilinkand Air Kenya.

I flew them both (one each way) on my luxury safari to Angama Mara in Kenya. The Masai Mara is the incredible area of Kenya popular for safari adventures. It’s home to the Big Five animals (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and water buffalo). While you can drive there from Nairobi (it’s rough, 8-10 hour drive on sometimes unpaved roads) most people fly.

The flights to the Mara leave from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, a smaller, regional airport about an hour from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), the country’s international airport. Here’s a look at my Air Kenya flight from the Masai Mara back to Nairobi.Africa Flight Experience – Air Kenya Flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi

Currently, there are no direct flights to Kenya from the US. I flew Turkish Airlines in their Business Class cabin from LAX to NBO via Istanbul and it was quite wonderful. SkyTeam alliance airline Kenya Airways has announced they will launch a daily, direct flight from JFK to NBO starting in the fall of 2018.
