Air Berlin launches fully-flat business class

Air Berlin has unveiled its new fully-flat business class product, fitted on one of the carrier’s A330 aircraft operating between Dusseldorf and Abu Dhabi.

The new seat is the same product as that offered by Etihad Airways (which owns a 29 per cent stake in the German carrier) on its A330 aircraft – last year Air Berlin said that it had “started to build a task force to discuss further steps regarding Etihad’s business class seating on Air Berlin’s A330-200 aircraft“ (see online news March 21, 2012).

The 19 business class seats all have direct aisle access, and feature a 15-inch IFE screen, with over 200 hours of programming and games, as well as a USB port.

Air Berlin says it is gradually equipping its long-haul fleet with the new business class, produced by seat manufacturer Sogerma, and added that the new seat “not only offers an outstanding product, but also guarantees a seamless travel experience with its partner Etihad Airways and the members of Oneworld”.

Looks very nice!

One question: is the seats similar to one in BA where some seats face backwards?

Good for Air Berlin.
