Airberlin and JetBlue Airways have reached a cooperation agreement to offer connecting flights to 31 destinations in the US. Beginning September 12, passengers can book flights to the US with Airberlin, a member of the Oneworld Alliance, as well as connected flights operated by JetBlue from New York JFK, Boston and Orlando.

Airberlin CCO Götz Ahmelmann said the partnership with JetBlue opens up an important growth market in the US. “This is only the beginning of our cooperation. Together, we are working to extend our partnership in the coming months,” he said.

According to Airberlin, the main benefit for its passengers will be the many transfer connections at New York JFK, which is also the central hub for JetBlue’s flight operations. Airberlin operates twice-daily flights to JFK from Dusseldorf and once-a-day service from Berlin Tegel. The cooperation will also include frequent flyer programs in the future.
