American Airlines, LAN Colombia launch codeshare agreement

American Airlines and LAN Colombia have started a codeshare agreement.

The airlines will codeshare on travel between the US and Colombia. American passengers will now have access to four new destinations in Colombia: Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Pereira.

Passengers flying LAN Colombia will now gain access to 12 new US cities including Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angles and New York by way of Miami. 

Travelers may purchase flights under the new codeshare today for travel starting August 8. 

American Airlines AAdvantage members will be able to earn and redeem miles on LAN Colombia flights.

LAN Colombia has plans to join oneworld toward the end of this year.
