These are exciting times we are living in and with the opening of the embassies in Havana and Washington, DC, the airlines are looking forward to more business connections.

American made the following statement:

"The reopening of the United States and Cuban embassies in Havana and Washington is an important step toward building new commercial relationships and re-establishing scheduled air service between the U.S. and Cuba," said American's Chairman and CEO Doug Parker. "American Airlines has operated charter flights to Cuba for nearly 25 years and we stand ready to begin scheduled service when it's allowed."

Eastern Airlines, based out of Miami is also back in the game.  They have partnered with HavanaAir Charters and will begin weekly, direct service from Houston International Airport to Havana, Cuba.

We are very pleased to open the Houston to Cuba market with our valued partner, Eastern Air Lines. HavanaAir has strived to extend the utmost in customer services to the island, and our partnership with Eastern has proven to provide an entirely new level of service to Cuba with their Next Generation Boeing aircraft, truly professional crew and support staff," said Mark Elias, President and COO of HavanaAir Charters.

It will be interesting to see what happens next in this market.
