American Airlines launches 2016 “Be Pink” Campaign

American Airlines has launched their 2016 “Be Pink” campaign.  Throughout the month of October customers will have the opportunity to purchase items from the inflight menu or at Admirals Clubs, which will support finding a cure. 

While employees will wear pink throughout the month of October, the 13th is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. American employees will wear pink uniform items and accessories to raise awareness – everyone is invited to join them and “Be Pink.”

American continues their partnership with Susan G. Komen this year.  This year, Komen has set a goal to reduce breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in 10 years by, among other things, enhancing their focus on research to cure these forms of breast cancer and metastatic disease.

American Airlines is supporting this campaign by giving miles for dollar contributions.  For every dollar you donate to Susan G. Koman, members will receive 20 AAdvantage points bonus miles.  Visit their website to participate and read the T&Cs.

American supports its many employees who have battled breast cancer and have shared their stories.  

“I am always happy to talk about my journey so women know that even if your cancer has metastasized, you can still go on living a normal and happy life,” Maureen said. She still receives weekly treatments, but has a positive prognosis and outlook. “I can happily say that I have not had a reoccurrence in 12 years.”

It’s great to see the success stories of this campaign.
