Delta’s ties to the music industry

Fitz and the Tantrums - HandClap

Delta’s Artist Spotlight launched in May of 2014 with Sam Smith and the rest is history.  The program features free music streaming through the airline’s onboard entertainment system, Delta Studio. 

“Delta has long championed the work of both emerging and celebrated artists through Delta Artist Spotlight,” said Ranjan Goswami, Delta’s Vice President – Sales, West. “We are so proud to play a small part on their path to stardom.”

Delta is also the official airline partner of the Grammys.  And it’s an impressive feat when you realize Delta Artist Spotlight musicians shared 13 Grammy nominations this year.  They must be doing something right.  So how do they do it?

The Delta Marketing team chooses the artists with the guidance of Pollack Music & Media Group.  Besides being passionate about music, the team researches the artists before by looking at a number of factors.  These include radio play, social media and international appeal. 

Andra Day known for her song “Rise Up” stated, “I received the Delta Artist Spotlight in August 2015, right before my album was released, and the program provided me with an amazing opportunity to share my music with millions of new fans in those early days,” said Day. “I look forward to building my relationship with the brand as my career continues to grow.”    

Who’s next?  Thehe July Artist Spotlight is Fitz and the Tantrums. They will be featured in this month’s issue of Sky magazine.
