There are two beautiful Four Seasons hotels in Istanbul.

The Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at The Bosphorus is a large, resort-like property, right on the Bosphorus Sea. It’s a former Ottoman Palace and boasts several restaurants, two wings of luxurious rooms and suites along with a large, pool deck overlooking the sea.

The other Four Seasons, the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet is much different. It’s more of a luxury boutique hotel with only 65 rooms and suites. Instead of being a former palace, the hotel was once the city’s jail.

It’s been totally transformed into an incredible, palace-like hotel and sits in the heart of Sultanahmet, Istanbul’s historic core. Here’s a quick tour of my Premier Room at the Four Seasons Istanbul at Sultanahmet. The large, open-plan room had huge floor-to-ceiling windows along one wall facing the incredible Hagia Sophia.

The luxury hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the city as it’s directly behind the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, two of the city’s most iconic structures. I always fly to Istanbul in the foodie-friendly Business Class cabin of Turkish Airlines. They have daily, direct flights from LAX and eight other U.S. gateway cities.
