George Bush Intercontinental Airport will have a new Terminal B south concourse in 2013. The project is the first phase in a three-phase redevelopment project for the airport.
The Houston Airport System has already broken ground for building the new concourse, which will be for regional jet operations.
The concourse will be a 225,000 square-foot facility for United’s regional aircraft and replace the south side flight stations and be accessible via a 95-foot wide bridge with more than 13,000 square feet of space for food, beverage and retail concessions. The new facility’s windows will be 28-feet, floor-to-ceiling windows with tarmac views.
Future phases will involve redeveloping the central Terminal B lobby and baggage claim areas, a new international north concourse and a new Terminal B Federal Inspection Services facility.
All parts of the redevelopment plan to incorporate LEED criteria.
