Hilton integrates Google Maps into App

Hilton has learned that HHonors members enjoy picking the exact room they want based on the more than13 million times users have done just that with the Hilton app.  

Hilton has decided to take it one step further and integrate Google Maps into their app to allow guests to pick the perfect room based on the property’s surroundings.  Would you choose the room that faces the Busch Stadium at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark Downtown or would you select a quiet room on the opposite side of stadium?  The choice is yours and now you have more information to make just that decision.

"Guest preferences continue to evolve and, thanks to our digital innovations and category-leading partners like Google, we're providing even more personalized experiences for our Hilton HHonors members. By continually evolving our Hilton HHonorsapp, we're empowering our members with more control over their stay experience," said Mark Weinstein, senior vice president and global head of Loyalty and Partnerships, Hilton Worldwide. "Everything we do from a technology standpoint starts with the customer - both the feedback they provide and the experiences we observe. We invest in, anticipate and deliver what we know our Hilton HHonors members most need and want, hopefully delighting them along the way."

Guests can now select the East facing rooms if they want to wake up with the sun or choose the west facing rooms if they want to catch the sunset. 

This feature is only available to guests who are members of the HHonors program and book through Hilton.  In order to select a specific room, customers may sign into their app at 6:00am the day before a booked stay.  After selecting their arrival time, guests are shown a floor plan of the hotel with available rooms. Just highlight the room you want and you are all set. 

"Google Maps want to make it as easy as possible for people to get the information they need in a simple and intuitive way," said Megan Boundey, Google Maps Product Manager. "With Hilton's spirit of constant innovation, combined with the Google Maps API technology, together we were able to enhance the guest experience by changing the way travelers plan and prepare for their hotel stay."

It’s a great feature that customers will enjoy once they take the time to get to know the application.
