An agreement is signed with Hilton Worldwide and existing owners to proceed forward in launching the Hilton Munich Airport.  The hotel is currently operating as Kempinksi Munich Airport Hotel and is the only hotel with a direct link to the main terminal building.

The existing hotel is operating with 389 rooms.  An additional160 rooms will be added to the building during a renovation scheduled for completion in 2017.  Upon conclusion of the construction, the hotel will be known as Hilton Munich Airport, and offer substantial meetings and conference spaces, alongside a Fit & Fly spa area and a range of exciting food & beverage options.

Rob Palleschi, global head of Hilton Hotels & Resorts said, "Munich is one of Europe's busiest airports, with almost 40 million passengers using the airport each year. Hilton pioneered the airport hotel concept, opening the San Francisco Airport Hilton in 1963, and today, we are proud to carry on Conrad Hilton's legacy by opening airport hotels that not only serve business travelers with outstanding business and meeting facilities, but also leisure guests with elevated design and sophisticated amenities. We look forward to welcoming Hilton Munich Airport as one of more than 50 airport properties now operating worldwide and the 13th Hilton brand hotel in Germany."

Hilton is making its mark on airport hotels. Currently, over 20 Hilton properties are located in European airports.
