Japan Airlines Unveils Luxurious A350-1000 First and Business Cabins

Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed the interior of its new A350-1000, which will become the airline’s new flagship for its international services.

According to the Japanese airline, the new aircraft will be used on the Tokyo (Haneda) to New York (JFK) route.

All the planes will feature a premium-heavy configuration with 239 seats, including six First Class seats, 54 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 155 Economy Class seats.

While the entire aircraft is filled with sleek touches, the First and Business Class cabins are where Japan Airlines really shines.

Both premium classes of the new A350-1000 aircraft will offer the world’s first headphone-free stereo. Passengers will be able to listen to the inflight entertainment system using built-in headrest speakers.

In addition, the seats will have privacy doors for the first time in the carrier’s history. Thoughtful technology forward touches like wireless charging and a monitor at the seat that allows passengers to communicate with flight attendants are also available.

Fancy First-Class Suites

The six First Class suites are massive—with a pitch of 83 inches and a width of 48 inches—and will feature privacy doors.

Each suite will offer three seating modes, including a sofa, a seat, and a double bed (even though the seat is only made for one person).

To increase cabin space, overhead bins will be removed and replaced with wardrobes and storage spaces at each seat.

Additionally, wireless charging will be available, along with a minibar. Moreover, a monitor on the seat will allow passengers to communicate with flight attendants.

Business Class Revamp

With 52 seats, JAL’s new Business Class will be spread across 14 rows in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each seat will have a pitch of 51 inches and feature privacy doors.

Overhead bins will be located along the windows to create a more spacious cabin layout.

Each seat will have a personal wardrobe, baggage storage, wireless charging, and pressure-dispersing cushions. In addition, there’s an electric privacy partition for those traveling with companions.

Economy Additions

In addition to a swanky new First and Business Class, the Premium Economy and Economy class will receive an upgrade, too.

To enhance privacy, the premium economy cabin will feature larger partitions. Additionally, the airline is introducing electrically operated reclining seats and an adjustable electric leg rest for extra comfort.

As for the Economy cabin, it’s worth noting that JAL was awarded the ‘Best Economy Class Airline Seat’ for five years in a row at the Skytrax ‘World Airline Awards’, and the new aircraft showcases how the airline doesn’t plan to give up that title anytime soon.

JAL claims it has improved the seating and legroom within the economy cabin to make the seats more comfortable.

The Japan-based airline has ordered 13 of the widebody planes from Airbus. While the aircraft was initially intended to go into service in late November, the timeline has been postponed due to supply chain disruptions.
