A Stay in DTLA’s Secret Luxury Hotel

Downtown Los Angeles, known as simply DTLA, continues its renaissance as its many early 20th century ornate office buildings become loft apartments, trendy stores and restaurants. The downtown area is now also filled with the usual line up of luxury hotels, with offerings from InterContinental, Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott along with boutique properties like Hotel Indigo and the Ace Hotel. There’s another player on the luxury hotel scene, one that remains under the radar of most visitors. It’s called LEVEL Furnished Living and it’s a super-luxury apartment community that rents out lofts by the night as hotel rooms.

Those loft units, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, killer sound systems and party-ready flat screen TVs, go for the same price as a standard hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton down the street. Prices for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom loft average about $500 a night, while prices for a one-bedroom are around $350. LEVEL offers a very nice luxury hotel experience with a 24-hour front desk providing check-in / out and concierge services, valet parking and daily maid service.

The accommodations are fantastic, large, luxury loft apartments complete with chef’s kitchens, fancy appliances and their own laundry rooms. Although it’s hard to leave the loft, the LEVEL community itself has an amazing range of amenities including a large rooftop pool, entertainment area and spa, gaming areas, a full gym and fitness center, meeting and lounge rooms and get this, a full-size, rooftop basketball court, open 24 hours a day. This is the amenity that appeals to pro basketball players and coaches (it’s also a block from the Staples Center) and many stay here and rent apartments here.

The only thing it lacks is room service, but with Uber Eats and Postmates, all the cool food of DTLA can be delivered to you in minutes. There is a sushi restaurant in the building that delivers and you’re only a block from the upscale Bristol Farms grocery store. You’re also only a few blocks from the LA Live entertainment area as well as being a few blocks from the hip restaurants and bars of DTLA’s Old Bank District.
