French hotel group Accor has announced the opening of its first hotel in Bolivia. The new Swissotel, located in the commercial center of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, features 138 rooms and suites, as well as Elsa restaurant, rooftop bar Faro, a gym, heated pool, conference room and two boardrooms.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra (often known simply as Santa Cruz) is a major business hub in Bolivia, producing nearly 35 percent of the country’s GDP. The property is located in Santa Cruz’s Barrio 2 de Abril district north of the city center, 10 miles from Viru Viru International airport.

“We are very pleased to announce the arrival of Accor in the country, in this strategic city,” said Philippe Trapp, executive vice president of Accor’s Luxury Brands, South America. “We’re excited to take our first steps into the market with our Swissôtel brand, which is highly-regarded and well-known throughout the world.”
