American Airlines and JetBlue Northeast Alliance Rolls On

The next phase of the strategic partnership will include an enhanced winter schedule and new loyalty benefits

American Airlines and JetBlue have announced the next phase of their Northeast Alliance, with a winter schedule that offers a combined total of over 700 daily flights from Boston and New York.

The strategic partnership, which was unveiled in July 2020, so far has given customers of the two airlines access to 57 new markets. According to the carriers, the alliance now offers more than 110 codeshare routes from Boston and New York, connecting the Northeast to almost 150 worldwide destinations.

JetBlue said the strength of the Northeast Alliance has enable it begin selling seats on flights from New York JFK and Boston to San Antonio, Kansas City and Milwaukee, and from JFK to Puerto Vallarta – four “never-before-served cities throughout the US and in Mexico.”

Next year, the airlines say all Northeast Alliance transcontinental services operated by the AA and JetBlue will also offer lie-flat seats, and tickets are now on sale for five new JetBlue routes from New York’s LaGuardia airport to destinations including Jacksonville, New Orleans and Nashville.

AAdvantage Elite and True Blue Mosaic frequent flier programs will also add the first reciprocal benefits this fall, including priority check-in, security and boarding, plus up to two complimentary checked bags. Member of both programs can already earn miles or points when traveling on American or JetBlue-marketed and operated flights.

“With JetBlue’s domestic strength and American’s growing international network, we are unlocking more destinations for travelers, more flying for both our teams, a better suite of products and a premium experience in the Northeast,” noted Vasu Raja, American’s chief revenue officer

Dave Fintzen, vice president, Northeast Alliance, JetBlue, added, “With demand for travel returning, JetBlue’s new low-fare flying – along with the broader growth made possible with American through the benefits of the NEA – is well-timed for us to best meet the needs of more travelers in the Northeast and introduce more competition with new flying.”
