American Airlines is set to open a new Admirals Club lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. At over 15,000 square feet, the lounge will be the largest at the airport with seating for more than 250 guests.
The carrier says work on the lounge, which will be located near gate 14, is scheduled to start next year, and more information, including the scheduled opening date, will be shared in due course. American says its existing lounge at AUS will remain open while the new facility is under construction.
The design of the lounge is being drawn from the city of Austin, “reflecting the urban fabric of Rainey Street, Austin Parks, local art and music,” according to the airline. There are also plans for the lounge to host local musicians to entertain guests.
American has been steadily expanding at Austin, adding more than 25 new nonstop routes to and from the airport over the last year.
“Austin has such a unique energy, with its fascinating mix of technology and arts. American wants to create a club that reflects that eclectic style and pays homage to the lively music scene,” said Clarissa Sebastian, managing director of premium customer experience and onboard products.
As travel restrictions have eased across the US this fall, American has announced reopenings for both its Admirals Club and its premium Flagship lounges across its network.
