Breakfast Buffet at the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan

There is something very special about luxury hotel breakfasts, whether they're served in your room or in the hotel's restaurant.

The Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, part of Dorchester Collection, sets up quite an amazing buffet each morning for their guests.

Included in most room rates, the breakfast buffet includes all kinds of freshly prepared goodies. There’s also a kitchen preparing crepes, waffles, omelettes, etc. and you can order from the restaurant’s menu if for some reason you can’t find what you like at the buffet. As this is Italy, the final station has fresh juices and Ferrari Trento Maximum Brut sparkling wine (like Italian Champagne) to make mimosas.

The Principe, Milan’s best hotel for almost 100 years, is in the Porto Nuovo area of the city, about ten minutes from the Duomo and the historic core. A luxury limo makes the trip back and forth every 30 minutes during the day. It’s also about a ten minute walk from the large Milano Centrale train station. I took the train from Rome and was able to walk back to the station with my luggage (which had rollers). I used Rail Europe to book my train ticket, they’re the main US outlet for the Italian and many other European train systems.

And to get to Italy I flew the wonderful Business Class of Alitalia which really was like flying in a fine Italian restaurant and spending the night in an Italian luxury hotel, at 40,000 feet.
