Delta Upcycles Retired Uniforms With Looptworks and Finds New Uses

What do you do when you release new Zac Posen designed uniforms for your employees?

Collect the retired uniforms and find new ways to use these. The airline collected 350k pounds of uniforms and is working with the community to create new sustainable options for them by:

Donating the items in good condition to give back to those in need.

Upcycling the materials through Looptworksand other organizations

Down-cycling – or reusing the materials into something of a lesser value.

“The amount of textile waste generated each year in the United States has doubled over the last 20 years, and we won’t add to that number,” said Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Director – Uniforms. “By partnering with Looptworks, we found a creative way to give the old uniforms a new life.”

In working with the good people at Loopworks the retired uniforms will be used to create a “Delta Collection” of goods for purchase.  This Fall interested parties can purchase backpacks, passport covers, other bags and accessories.
