Hilton has announced 11 new hotel signings for Tempo by Hilton and Motto by Hilton, representing nearly 20 percent of the global hospitality company’s lifestyle pipeline.
The new properties will be located in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, with key signings in New York City, Rotterdam, Tulum, Boston, Mexico City, and Seattle. With these newly signed properties, Hilton’s lifestyle category supply is expected to double within the next five years as well as expand to an additional 17 countries/territories over the next 10 years including the first lifestyle property in Africa.
More than 55 properties already scheduled to open within the next 10 years in Hilton’s lifestyle category: Canopy by Hilton, Tempo, and Motto. This portfolio of design-forward, centrally located hotels redefine the traditional hotel stay and deliver a more distinctive and compelling guest experience at a variety of price points. Leveraging the power and experience of the Hilton enterprise, these brands serve as invaluable experimental zones and innovation factories for everything from new commercial models and technologies to new marketing strategies.
Launched last year, Tempo is an approachable lifestyle hotel brand offering thoughtfully designed accommodations to help guests relax and recharge. Each property will feature inspiring public spaces, state-of-the-art facilities with product experiences from Peloton and Precor (a unit of Peloton), flexible meeting and working spaces, as well as culinary options, including the brand’s signature coffee and tea fuel bar, a café-style breakfast offering and an inviting bar experience.
In addition to the upcoming Tempo properties, Motto continues to expand its portfolio of curated micro-hotels in prime, urban destinations across the U.S. and internationally. Joining Motto Washington D.C. City Center, which opened in the summer of 2020, and Motto Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square, which just opened in early May 2021, the brand will open its third property in Chelsea, New York City later this summer.
“We are excited to announce Motto’s continued expansion and to provide guests with a fresh approach to travel,” said Tripp McLaughlin, global brand head, Motto by Hilton. “As people begin to feel comfortable traveling again, our new Motto properties will allow guests to connect with the neighborhood culture by providing authentic and locally-minded experiences in the most desirable urban destinations in the world.”
Motto offers efficient and flexible guest rooms, activated social spaces, locally inspired design, and a communal vibe to cater to today’s travelers looking for value and one-of-a-kind experiences. Eliminating the hassle of coordinating travel for larger groups, Motto hotels will offer a unique linking room concept where guests will have the option to book multiple Connecting Rooms together in advance to create a flexible social environment for group travel.
In addition, Canopy by Hilton, Hilton’s first lifestyle brand, which launched in 2014, continues to expand its global footprint. Despite the challenging climate of 2020, Canopy doubled its brand portfolio with 14 property openings last year, touting a portfolio of 29 open hotels across the world as of the first quarter of 2021. Canopy continues to expand its global presence with recent openings such as Canopy Hangzhou West Lake, Canopy Sao Paulo Jardins and Canopy San Antonio Riverwalk in addition to upcoming openings in Paris, Madrid, London, and China, as well as Chicago and Portland, Maine, all scheduled to open this year.
