Hilton Garden Inn Premieres in Downtown Austin

The 214-room hotel is located between the Texas Capital Corridor and the University of Texas

Hilton has premiered the Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District, the eighth under the Garden Inn brand in the Texas state capital. The 214-room hotel is located in the city’s downtown within walking distance of 6th Street, between the Texas Capital Corridor and the University of Texas.

The property features décor that reflects Austin’s live-music scene, including artwork made from vintage posters from the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Amenities include Analog bar and restaurant in the main lobby area, with a covered outdoor patio, as well a 17th floor rooftop events space with views of the University of Texas, Austin Hill Country, and the state capitol.

Rooms feature 55-inch Smart TVs, mini fridges, coffee makers and free WiFi, and the property also offers a fitness center with yoga corner.

“Austin is a thriving hub of art and culture,” commented Michael Coolidge, chief investment and development officer for developer HRI. “We wanted to reflect that throughout the entire property, from the creative food and beverage offerings, to the eclectic local art program, to the vibrant energy of the 17th floor rooftop deck.”

The downtown Hilton Garden Inn is one of a number of new hotels that have opened or are being planned for Austin. In February, the Moxy Austin-University became the brand’s first property in the state of Texas, and in March, Marriott unveiled the Austin Marriott Downtown in a 31-story tower close to the Austin Convention Center.

Another new property planned for summer 2022, IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to open the new Atwell Suites close to Austin Bergstrom International airport.
