Hilton Honors has announced that it is permanently changing the expiration policy so that points in members’ accounts will now remain valid for up to 24 months when there is no activity. Previously the expiration policy had set a time limit of 15 months.
Currently, points expiration has been paused until Dec. 31, 2022, as part of Hilton Honors response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition member statuses have also been extended until March 31, 2023.
Members can keep their Hilton Honors points active and even earn additional points, by doing any of the following:
- Stay at one of the more than 6,700 Hilton hotels worldwide
- Earn or redeem points with any of Hilton Honors airline, car rental, shopping, dining or entertainment partners
- Make an eligible purchase with a Hilton Honors co-branded credit card
- Purchase points or donate points to a participating charity
Now through the end of the year, Hilton Honors is running a Power Up promotion that allows members to double and even triple their Bonus Points. Eligible stays completed between now and Dec. 31 will gain registered Hilton Honors members two times the Bonus Points awards.
Members who use their Hilton Honors Credit Card for stays during the same time period will earn three times the Bonus Points. This is in addition to points that card members already earn on their card and on eligible hotel spend on stays.
When it comes to claiming awards, Hilton Honors has stopped publishing awards charts, moving instead toward a ‘dynamic pricing’ model. To help members research current points prices required for stays, Hilton is offering its Points Explorer, which can be searched by destinations and individual properties.
