Hilton Tapestry Collection Adds Hotel in State College, PA

Scholar Hotel State College, featuring 72 extended-stay rooms, is one block from Penn State

Hilton has added another property to its Tapestry Collection brand, the Scholar Hotel State College, located one block from the campus of Pennsylvania State University.

The property, which is housed in the historic Glennland Building on East beaver Avenue, features 72 extended-stay rooms, with free WiFi, large work areas, and a kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, cooktop or oven and microwave.

The full-service bar Social Food + Drink is scheduled to open at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Pugh streets in the first quarter of 2021. The hotel also offers 1,250 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center and a lobby market place.

Hilton launched The Tapestry Collection in 2017, and the hotel group has recently been expanding both Tapestry and its other collections brand, Curio, in locations across the US and worldwide. Currently the Tapestry portfolio includes around 70 properties, including destinations such as Lima, Madrid and Paris.

“We are thrilled to open the Scholar Hotel State College and bring the historic Glennland Building back to life,” commented Gary Brandeis, a Penn State graduate and president of Scholar Hotel Group.

“We love the State College Community and think the Scholar brings a new standard to Downtown, not only with its unique interiors and features, but with its extended-stay-equipped guest rooms.”
