After a seven-year restoration project, Hotel La Compañía will open its doors in spring of 2022 in Panama City, Panama. Located in Casco Antiguo, the city’s historic district, this property will be the first Central American hotel in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt portfolio.
Each of the three wings restores a piece of the historic old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The French colonial wing was built by Jesuit priests in 1739; the Spanish Colonial wing, dates back to 1688; and the American Beaux-Arts wing was once a high-end department store constructed in 1905.
Situated alongside the ruins of a 300-year-old church, the hotel will be a romantic blend of old and new, where the design, craftsmanship, and cultural influences come to life with modern touchpoints.
The 88 guestrooms and suites are each individually designed to reflect the three eras represented in the hotel, which surrounds a courtyard featuring gardens, a tree-arched aisle for weddings, and a sprawling lawn ideal for dining and entertainment, as well as group functions
A team of designers, architects, and historians are restoring the hotel building to create a living museum where the history of Panama will be showcased through a bold and contemporary design concept.
Several chef-driven dining venues include an all-day dining restaurant, a cozy bistro and coffee bar, a family-style Italian restaurant, and a steakhouse with an underground wine cellar dating back 300 years.
Multiple onsite entertainment options include a lobby lounge, sky bar and rooftop lounge. A sundeck includes an infinity pool and 360-degree views from the Pacific Ocean to Panama City.
Five function rooms for executive board meetings and group events are available, along with the option of using the ruins of the historic church as a backdrop for any gathering. A spa with four treatment rooms and features the Germaine de Capuccini product line from Spain
A collection of more than 1,600 original photographs and custom works of art adorn the walls of the hotel’s guestrooms as well as public spaces.
