Hyatt Announces Six Thompson Hotels Across the South

Dallas and San Antonio properties are set to open later this year, with more in Texas and Georgia to follow

Hyatt has unveiled plans to add six properties under its Thompson Hotels brand in Texas and Georgia. The first two hotels will be the Thompson Dallas and Thompson San Antonio – both scheduled to open in November this year.

The 219-room Thompson Dallas is part of a re-development of the 52-story First National Bank Tower. The hotel will feature a restaurant on the 49th floor and 50th floor observation deck, as well as an “urban oasis” on the 9th floor featuring an infinity edge pool, spa, fitness center and “yoga and pet parks.”

Meanwhile on the banks of the San Antonio River, the 162-room Thompson San Antonio will feature a 20th floor rooftop bar, and a restaurant from “a celebrated local chef.”

In 2021, the brand is set to open hotels in Austin, Savannah and the Buckhead suburb of Atlanta, as well as a Houston property set to open in 2023.

Thompson Hotels joined Hyatt last year, following the group’s purchase of lifestyle hotel management company Two Roads Hospitality. The lifestyle brand also joined the World of Hyatt loyalty program in March 2019.

In January Hyatt opened the first Thompson property in Washington DC, with an 11-story new-build located in the city’s Navy Yard district.
