IHG Announces It Will Open Avid Hotels in Germany

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a development agreement with existing partner GS Star GmbH to open 15 Avid hotels in Germany in the next five years, the first locations for the new brand in Europe.

Avid was launched by IHG a year ago and promises: a “best-in-class” sleep experience with high-quality bedding, blackout shades and a noise-reduction design; free breakfast; 24-hour free coffee service; 24-hour market for food, drinks and essentials; and enhanced WiFi technology.

Kenneth Macpherson, CEO, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa for IHG, said Avid has been the company’s most successful new brand launch since Holiday Inn Express in 1990. IHG has 122 hotels open or in development in Germany, including the first Kimpton hotel and a doubling of the Hotel Indigo brand.
