A new multi-brand automated retail outlet has opened at John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4, thanks to a partnership between JFKIAT, the operator of T4, and travel retailer Hudson. Located next to Five Borough Food Hall, the contactless, 24/7 shopping experience is the first of its kind in New York.
The concept allows customers to make contactless purchases for items such as personal care products, audio equipment and accessories. The outlets offers an array of both globally recognized brands and local products, including Brookstone, Apple, Beats, Bose, Burt’s Bees and the first-ever Automated Teddy Machine from Build-A-Bear Workshop.
With this rollout, JFKIAT is continuing to expand its contactless retail and food and beverage offerings. Earlier this year, the terminal operator partnered with Inflyter and DFS Group to launch T4 Marketplace, a branded digital marketplace for Duty Free shopping. JFKIAT is also planning to include other T4retailers in the digital marketplace.
In 2019, JFKIAT launched AtYourGate at T4, giving customers the ability to order food and beverages on the AtYourGate app and have items delivered to their gate.
“JFKIAT has continued to innovate T4’s offerings in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and enabling a more contactless customer experience is critical to our mission to restore confidence in air travel,” said Roel Huinink, president and CEO of JFKIAT. “This partnership with Hudson is our latest move to enable a safe, seamless, and fully digital purchase process, creating a safer and more seamless journey for customers and employees.”
