Kimpton Hotels, an IHG Luxury & Lifestyle brand since 2014, is opening its second resort in Thailand later this year, this time on the popular resort island of Koh Samui. The signing of Kimpton Koh Samui follows the brand’s debut in Thailand in October 2020 when it opened Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

The 138-key luxury boutique beachfront property is on Choengmon Beach, which is a short drive to Chaweng Beach, Fisherman’s Village walking street and Koh Samui International Airport. The island can also be reached by frequent ferries from Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Surat Thani in crossings that take as little as 30 minutes.

Kimpton Koh Samui will offer stunning luxury pool villas with unique direct access to the beach. Two-thirds of the guest accommodation will be suites or villas and the vast majority of the hotel inventory offering spectacular views over the Gulf of Thailand. The new resort will feature four restaurants and bars as well as a pool, spa, fitness center, Kids Club and a multi-purpose meetings and events space. In Kimpton tradition, pets will be welcome.

IHG purchased Kimpton in 2014, and has gradually expanded the brand beyond its US roots, with hotels under development in Asian destinations including Bali, Suzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Sanya and Kuala Lumpur.

The group also recently announced plans for a 149-room Kimpton property in Paris’ Opera district.
