United Airlines passengers flying out of Los Angeles International Airport Terminals 7 and 8 now have the option to reserve security screening times through LAX Fast Lane. The pilot program, which is being run through Jan. 18, is being tested in coordination with the Transportation Security Administration.
The free program allows passengers to reserve a 15-minute window to for screening through a reserved TSA security checkpoint in Terminal 7.
Reservations can be made by visiting flylax.com/Fastlane. Customers who have selected their time window receive a QR code that they will show upon arrival at the security checkpoint. They will then be allowed to enter a reserved TSA screening lane.
According to TSA, the service uses the same security standards as all screening lanes, although customers who are part of other trusted traveler programs, such as TSA PreCheck, will not be able to use their benefits in the dedicated lane.
Guests can reserve a place in line up to 24 hours before their flight departs; however the time selected must be at least one hour before departure. While reservations are highly encouraged, those who do not reserve in advance may be able to reserve a space upon arrival at the airport if space is available.
United is notifying their customers who are traveling from LAX about the Fast Lane trial, which is optional and free for all travelers using Terminals 7 and 8. The service is available daily from 6:30 AM to 1 PM during the 90-day pilot, which ends Jan. 18.
