LAX Opens Onsite COVID-19 Rapid Testing Lab
The facility offers three collection sites with results available in as little as three to five hours for a cost of $125
Los Angeles International Airport has announced the opening of a new COVID-19 rapid testing facility onsite. The cost for the PCR test is $125.
The facility includes three collection sites at the airport. The primary lab and screening center is located across from Terminal 6 on the Lower/Arrivals level. Results for tests taken here come back within three to five hours.
One of the addition collection points is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal on the Upper/Departures level at the check-in counters located in Aisle C. Another is in Terminal 2’s Lower/Arrivals Level baggage claim area. Results from these two locations are available in “under 24 hours.”
The airport recommends scheduling appointments in advance at all locations, although “some walk-up appointments may be available at the in-terminal locations based on demand.”
The main lab screening site is open between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and the other two sites between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Customers who choose to use the main lab screening site are tested at one of four open-air collection windows, and receive test results electronically. An itemized receipt is provided for customers to submit to their insurance providers for reimbursement if the test is covered.
The new onsite lab, which can process around 1,000 tests per day, builds on an earlier testing facility at the airport which returned results in 24-48 hours. It’s one of several initiatives in the airport’s Terminal Wellness Project, including installation of thermal imaging cameras in June to detect travelers with an elevated body temperature.
The airport says it also plans to add a rapid antigen test option later this month.

“We partnered with the private sector to design, construct and open a first-of-its-kind on-site laboratory that will provide an accessible and affordable rapid testing solution.”
