Marriott Announces Ten More Properties in Turkey

The new openings will expand the hotel group’s portfolio in the country to 43 properties by the end of 2022

Marriott International has announced plans to open 10 additional properties in Turkey by the end of 2022, expanding its portfolio to 43 properties in the country with over 7,000 rooms.

Most recently, the hotel group announced two signings under its Four Points by Sheraton flag. The company says the Four Points by Sheraton Istanbul Kagithane is expected to open this year, while the Four Points by Sheraton Elazig is set for a 2022 premiere.

Marriott’s premium brands are a “strong driver of growth in the Turkish market,” according to the company. Two new Autograph Collection hotels are slated for Istanbul openings – The Burdock, Autograph Collection this year and Orient Occident Hotel, Autograph Collection in 2022.

Turkey’s largest city is also set to welcome a new property under the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand in Istanbul Levent by the end of this year, while next year will see the arrival of the Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt.

With rising demand for long-stay accommodations, Marriott is opening Residence Inn by Marriott Istanbul Atasehir later this year. The all-suite property will feature fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas.

Additionally, the company is launching its first standalone branded residences in the EMEA region with opening of the The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Bodrum. In 2022, Marriott will also open The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Istanbul and The Residences at the Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt.

The company is also finding growth in conversion opportunities across the country. In the past two years it has signed six conversion deals, five of which are currently open. In addition the group has signed four adaptive re-use conversions in Turkey, including The Burdock, Autograph Collection in Istanbul.
