Marriott Bonvoy has announced a redesign of its mobile app to include new shopping and booking options and to make it easier for guests to customize their booking for contactless stays.

The company says the refreshed app mees the “increased desire and demand for travel.” Among the new features incorporated in the app:

• Premium vacation rentals from Homes and Villas by Marriott International

• The work-from-hotel program Work Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy

• Marriott Bonvoy Tours and Activities.

According to Marriott, guests who book via the app will be guaranteed the lowest rate available and will be able to earn points and receive on-property benefits during stays.

Additionally, the app now makes Marriott’s mobile key feature, which is currently available at over 4,000 properties, accessible via the home screen of the app once guests have checked in.

Other contactless features available on the app include the ability to request services such as ordering fresh bath towels, pillows, and bath products among other amenities, or requesting a crib, shoeshine and dry cleaning.

The updated app is also more personalized, with points promotions relevant to individual members appearing on the home screen and their account page. Members can also sign up for and earn points with the Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards.

Further improvements include the ability to search and book accommodations by hotel brand, destination, price or points needed for a free night’s stay.

“The enhanced Marriott Bonvoy Mobile app is a must-have travel companion,” said Leigh Zarelli, senior vice president digital at Marriott International. “It simplifies the travel planning process, allows for the most frictionless experience before and during your stay and gets smarter the more you interact with it.”

The app is currently available in seven languages, with Italian, Russian, Portuguese and Arabic to be added later this year. According to the hotel group, the improved app will launch on Apple’s iOS operating system, since it accounts for most Marriott Bonvoy app users. This will be followed by the Android operating system later this year.
