Marriott Opens Its 50th Shanghai Property

The 256-room JW Marriott Shanghai Fengxian is the latest addition to Marriott’s portfolio of over 400 hotels in Greater China

Marriott International has announced the opening of the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian, located on Hangzhou Bay in the city’s Fengxian seaside district, a suburban area situated an hour south of metropolitan Shanghai.

The opening marks the group’s 50th hotel in Shanghai.

The hotel offers 256 rooms and suites, and includes three dining venues and a lobby lounge, with menus featuring fresh produce from the hotel’s onsite garden. The property has various meetings and events facilities, including a nearly 20,000-square-foot meeting area, a 9,600-square-foot banquet hall, four multifunction rooms, and a spacious executive lounge.

Leisure facilities include a spa, 24-hour fitness center with a 25-metre heated infinity pool, and a kid’s club.

“We are delighted to celebrate the opening of the 50th property in Shanghai, a testament to the phenomenal growth of Marriott International in this region,” said Henry Lee, Marriott International’s president for Greater China.

“Across Greater China, there are now over 400 Marriott hotels spanning 23 brands in more than 90 cities, indicating our confidence in the strong growth of the travel market in China. We look forward to expanding our portfolio further, and to offer distinctive and personalized experiences to travelers here,” Lee said.

Marriott recently announced that it is expanding its portfolio in Asia Pacific, with plans to open almost 100 properties in the region this year.
