MGM Resorts Resumes 24/7 Operations at Three Las Vegas Properties

Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, The Mirage will be open around the clock starting March 3

MGM Resorts International has announced it will resume 24/7 hotel operations at Mandalay Bay, Park MGM and The Mirage in Las Vegas, effective March 3. The properties have been implementing selective mid-week closures due to a COVID-19-related drop in business volume, but demand is now increasing, according to the company.

The company announced in September that it had completed reopening all its resorts and hotels following closures due to the pandemic. The company says resumption of 7-day operations is further evidence that travel is on the rebound.

The Mirage

“As we begin to see positive signs around the public’s sentiment about traveling, coupled with important progress on the vaccination front and decreasing COVID-19 case numbers, bringing Mandalay Bay, Park MGM and The Mirage back to full-week operations is an important step for us,” said Bill Hornbuckle, the company’s CEO and president.

“We remain optimistic about Las Vegas’ recovery and our ability to bring employees back to work as business volumes allow us to do so.”

Meanwhile, MGM Resorts has implemented a set of protocols called the Seven-Point Safety Plan to mitigate the spread of the virus. Among the plan’s initiatives are employee screening, temperature checks and COVID-19-specific training.

All employees and guests are required to wear masks (complimentary masks are provided to guests as needed), and a physical distancing policy is in place with floor guides, and Plexiglas barriers and other measures where physical distancing is challenging.

Handwashing stations have been installed throughout the casinos and the hotels offer contactless check-in. Electrostatic sprayers are in use for cleaning large public spaces and food and beverage outlets offer digital menus for can be viewed on personal mobile devices.
