Marriott is set to open two new Moxy hotels in New York City next year. Both properties have topped out, according to real estate investor and developer Lightstone, and will join the lifestyle brand in late 2022.
The 303-room Moxy Lower East Side will feature a restaurant, cocktail bar, underground lounge, rooftop bar, fitness center and three meeting “studios.” Across the East River close to Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn, the Moxy Williamsburg will offer 216 rooms, a main-floor bar, a café/restaurant, a cocktail lounge, a fitness center and a rooftop terrace with views of Manhattan and the East River.
The addition of the new hotels will bring to five the number of properties in Lightstone’s Moxy portfolio in New York, which currently includes Moxy Chelsea, Moxy Times Square and Moxy East Village – as well as the recently opened Moxy South Beach in Miami.
Marriott launched the millenial-focused Moxy brand in 2013, and currently has around 70 properties across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with recent openings including the brand’s first Texas hotel with the Moxy Austin-University, and paired with an AC Hotel in a dual-branded property in midtown Atlanta.
“We are excited to be expanding our New York Moxy Hotel portfolio with these two dynamic properties. The success of our first three Moxy’s in Manhattan underscores the demand for our trademark style of hospitality,” said Mitchell Hochberg, president of Lightstone. “The timing is also perfect, as New York City makes its dramatic comeback from the past year. We are proud to be part of the city’s renaissance.”
