New Hotel Indigo to open in New Orleans

The popular hotel brand will be the Big Easy’s second when it opens later in the year

IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to open its second Hotel Indigo property in New Orleans later this year.

The Hotel Indigo New Orleans – French Quarter will be located in the city’s central business district, and will offer 143 rooms across ten floors, with features including a fitness center, Common Interest bar and restaurant, and “multiple meeting spaces.”

The hotel is located on St. Charles Avenue, home to the oldest continuously operating streetcar line in the world.

It will join the existing Hotel Indigo New Orleans Garden District (also located on St. Charles Avenue around 1.5 miles south of the forthcoming property).

The Hotel Indigo brand launched in 2004, and currently has around 130 properties across over 15 countries, including recent openings in Cyprus, Madrid and Brussels.

There are around 100 hotels in the brand’s pipeline, including the recently announced Hotel Indigo Exeter. In the Americas there are 29 Hotel Indigo properties under development, including hotels in Vancouver, Washington, Omaha and Houston. The 128-room Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown – Wall Street is also scheduled to open this autumn.

“We continue to see leisure travelers returning to popular drive-to destinations and guests excited to explore or rediscover cities closer to home. New Orleans is a prime destination for travelers of all types, primarily leisure today, and corporate and groups as they begin to return,” said Julienne Smith, senior vice president, development, Luxury and Upscale, Americas. “With its unique style, inviting guestrooms, spa-inspired bathrooms, and neighborhood dining, Hotel Indigo is a great fit for this market.”

The Hotel Indigo’s brand functions as a global boutique hospitality choice focused on refreshed and inviting guest experiences reflective of the local community. This concept can be seen in the locally inspired murals and renewal programs where the music, scent, and menu items change throughout the year.
