ATPCO, the flight shopping solutions provider, has unveiled a new feature for its Routehappy Content that displays current COVID-19 testing and vaccination requirements for travelers at the time of booking.
The new dataset provides details about which countries and airlines require proof of a negative COVID-19 test before departure.
In addition, as vaccinations are rolled out globally if the time comes when requirements include information about inoculations, the tool has that capability already built in.
While no government currently explicitly requires a vaccination to enter its borders, a number of countries have decided to open their borders to vaccinated travelers in order to jumpstart tourism and business travel.
ATPCO says it has “proactively extended this dataset to ensure it can instantly serve the industry as flight shopping requirements evolve.” The new content is centralized and standardized for 102 airlines, covering more than 75 percent of global airline capacity, using simple to understand, uniform text and visuals.
ATPCO says it created this new content to quickly solve a problem for both airline and flight shopping channels as well as for consumers.
“The science is evolving quickly, so countries, airlines, and channels are having to adjust travel requirements at a pace not previously seen. It’s almost impossible for even the savviest travelers to keep up with these changes on their own,” said Jonathan Savitch, chief commercial officer at ATPCO.
“These are the challenges we need to tackle by enabling a simple and standard format that can be leveraged from existing connections that channels, systems and airlines already have with ATPCO. One-off developments won’t work.”
The Routehappy Content also covers cleaning, masks, temperature checks, blocked seats, and the company says it is also developing options to expand features further as needs evolve, such as for digital health passports.
