Star Alliance Website Adds Flight Search and Bookings

Star Alliance has revamped its website, adding the ability to search for flights, view airfares and book with its member airlines

Star Alliance has revamped its website, adding the ability to search for flights, view airfares and book with its member airlines. The feature uses flight comparison website Skyscanner’s search function, though redirects travellers to the member carrier’s website for purchase.

It has also been redesigned to be more user-friendly, with shorter paths to its most-used features such as the website’s existing lounge finder, flight status updates and other journey-related services.  Star Alliance said it was working on more new services including interline baggage tracking, interline seat assignment at time of reservation and frequent flyer membership number validation.

“By introducing the alliance carrier fare search feature, made possible through our Skyscanner partnership, we are responding to our alliance customers’ feedback, offering a service which allows our members’ frequent fliers to easily book with Star Alliance member airlines and enjoy Star Alliance benefits,” said Jeremy Drury, director digital and e-services for Star Alliance.

“Anything that is bookable on our member airlines’ websites can now be reached through our site.”

Star Alliance is the oldest global airline alliance and turned 20 in 2017.
