Ethiopian Airlines will begin operating flights to Atlanta starting May 16. The new service will run four times each week between Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport (ADD) in Ethiopia’s capital and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), stopping to refuel at Dublin, Ireland, on the outbound journey from Addis Ababa, and flying non-stop on the return.

The addition of this new route to the airline’s international network adds Atlanta to the airline’s U.S. portfolio, which includes nonstop flights to Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), and Washington (IAD).

“We are truly delighted to open our sixth gateway in North America with the new flight to Atlanta,” said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew. “We have been connecting the U.S. and Africa for 25 years now, and the new service will help boost the investment, tourism, diplomatic and socioeconomic bonds between the two regions.”

“As a pan-African carrier, we are committed to further expanding our global network and connecting Africa with the rest of the world. We are also keen to better serve the U.S. by increasing our destinations and flight frequencies.”

Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens added, “Ethiopian Airlines’ new service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is yet another win for our city as we continue to develop and expand our air service to Africa.”

Ethiopian Airlines operates a global network of 127 international destinations and 22 domestic destinations with a fleet of 140 aircraft.
