The airline will match customer donations of MileagePlus miles to Charity Miles partners of 1,000 miles or more to the charity of their choice through December 21. In addition, when the hashtag #UnitedCharityMiles is used on social media channels Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook in support of the United in Giving campaign, the airline will donate 1,000 miles per post, up to 1 million miles for a total of up to 6 million miles donated.
“As our customers begin to think about ways to give back this holiday season, we will double their impact on the charities that matter most to them,” said Sharon Grant, United’s VP Community Affairs. “Donating miles is a powerful way to make a difference.”
