Virgin Atlantic Now Flying Only to JFK, LA and Hong Kong from UK
The popular carrier has contracted its route system but still remains aloft
Virgin Atlantic has reduced its schedules down to just three routes from Heathrow – namely Hong Kong, Los Angeles and New York’s JFK.
Last week the carrier dropped all remaining services from Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast, leaving it with a fleet of just six operating commercial and cargo aircraft.
This page on Virgin’s website (updated on March 31) shows all flights operating up until Saturday April 4.
On alternate days the airline is serving Hong Kong on flights VS0206 (from Heathrow) and VS0207 (from Hong Kong).
Meanwhile on most days a return service is running between Heathrow and the US airports of LAX and JFK.
Flight VS0003 is running from Heathrow to JFK each day except for April 1, with VS0010 operating daily between JFK and Heathrow.
Flight VS0023 is running daily from Heathrow to Los Angeles International, as is return leg VS0024. Departure and arrival times can be seen on the carrier’s website.
This week Virgin Atlantic and Easyjet have written to furloughed employees to ask them to consider staffing the temporary critical care field hospitals (known as Nightingale Hospitals) which are being set up to help the fight against coronavirus.
Virgin has parked around 85% of its aircraft fleet and has requested a state bailout consisting of hundreds of millions of pounds in loans and credit guarantees.
The carrier is 51% owned by Branson’s Virgin Group, with a 49% stake held by the US carrier Delta Airlines.
