Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced the addition of The Franklin New York to its Voco portfolio, the first US property to join the upscale brand. Originally built in the 1930s, the 50-room boutique hotel has recently undergone “extensive renovation,” with rooms now featuring 49-inch TVs, free WiFi and “spa-like” showers.

The Franklin is the first of three US hotels set t o join the brand in the near future, with Voco Historic St Augustine and Voco The Tiger Hotel in Columbia, MO, set to be added in early 2021.

IHG launched the Voco brand 2018, with the primary focus on conversions of existing hotels and other buildings. So far 16 properties have been opened under the Voco flag worldwide, and there are another further 23 Voco properties in the global pipeline.

IHG says that the brand is on track to open 200 hotels over the next ten years.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Voco brand to the critical American market. The historic design, modern upgrades and inviting ambience are a perfect blend of old and new,” said Ginger Taggart, vice president, global Crowne Plaza and Voco Americas, IHG.

“Our guests will love the fresh, modern design that still honors the iconic heritage property, and also will appreciate the cleanliness and sustainability measures that ensure a responsible stay.”
