Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has announced that its nearly 6,000 economy and midscale hotels across North America are now mobile check-in and checkout capable.
The technology comes with the group’s launch of a new mobile app for iOS and Android earlier this year. According to Wyndham, the app is designed to prioritize “low-contact in-stay features” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The app’s other features include Lightning Book, which enables searching and booking a hotel in as few as three taps, and an ‘in-stay mode’ which defaults users’ home screens to display relevant information regarding upcoming stays.
The app has also enabled digital room keys. Currently available at select resorts, such as the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek in Orlando, FL, and Wyndham Grand Rio Mar in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, the technology is set to be introduced to more properties over the next 12 months.
“This is a pivotal moment for Wyndham and our re-imagined mobile app, which arrived at a critical time amid the pandemic,” commented Jessica Davidson, senior vice president, Digital, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. “Today’s travelers expect streamlined, low-contact experiences and are seeking established brands that can deliver.”
